News / BBC releases Shetland trailer
THE WAITING for the next part of the Shetland crime drama series is almost over with a possible broadcasting date set for the second week in March.
The insidemediatrack.com website reports the two part thriller based on Ann Cleeves’ Raven Black crime novel is currently scheduled to be on air sometime between 8 and 14 March.
The BBC meanwhile has released a trailer on You Tube, but has still to confirm the precise broadcast date.
The series, which also includes adaptations of Cleeves’ books White Lightning and Dead Water, will see the return of Douglas Henshall as detective Jimmy Perez alongside Steven Robertson as local cop Sandy and Alison O’Donnell as Tosh.
Joining the core cast as a new character is Julie Graham who plays straight-talking procurator fiscal Rhona Kelly.
This second series also features guest appearances from Brian Cox, Alex Norton, Nina Sosanya, David Hayman, John Lynch and Bill Paterson, among others.
In the first tale, Black Raven, old wounds are painfully reopened as DI Jimmy Perez and his team look into a past crime to solve the present-day murder of a young teenage girl.
Last year, the first adaptation of one of Cleeves’ crime novels for prime time television attracted more than five million viewers, enough to make the BBC commission the new series.
