News / Plans submitted for flats
MORE housing could be on the horizon for Lerwick after plans were submitted for a development of six one-bedroom flats.
DITT Construction want to build the properties on vacant piece of land bordered by North Road and Staney Hill.
The style inspiration has come from images of the ‘Gutters Huts’, which DITT said were some of the first buildings in the area as Lerwick expanded northwards.
In a statement included as part of a planning application, the company said that the “proposed development of six one-bed flats provides much needed housing in Lerwick that is distinctive and fits into the existing settlement pattern of the area”.
The parking requirement for the development is nine spaces – seven of which would be situated off the quieter Staney Hill road, with a further two off North Road.
