SHETLAND is well represented in the nominations for this year’s Scotsman Food and Drink awards.
Dried cod company Thule Ventus is nominated in the best use of Scottish produce section, while Lerwick Brewery is up for the best craft beer prize.
The Stevenson Tea Room at the Sumburgh Head lighthouse is also nominated in the hidden gem category, with the public due to pick the winner.
The results of the awards will be revealed at an event in Edinburgh on 4 September.
Details of a new local cooking competition for children, meanwhile, have been announced.
Bairns will get a chance to showcase their culinary skills in the Peerie Bites competition at the Taste of Shetland festival in October.
The competition is open to people aged under 18 and applicants are asked to create a savoury dish which includes one or more items of Shetland produce.
They are also asked to produce a short video about the local ingredients.
Finalists will take part in a live event at the Clickimin on Saturday 6 October, with the winners of the junior and senior categories due to work with NorthLink Ferries chefs on developing their recipes for future menus.
