News / John recognised in national wildlife photography awards
A SHETLAND based photographer says he is “delighted” after having two pictures recognised in this year’s British Wildlife Photography Awards.
John Moncrieff‘s striking picture of two puffins head-to-head was highly commended and it was also picked as the cover of the awards’ book.
A photo of a white seal with its paw in the air also featured in the highly commended category.
Pictures taken in Shetland feature a number of times in the awards, with Melvin Redeker’s picture of a Noss gannet winning the animal portraits section.
“I am delighted to have won two highly commended awards, and very proud to have the puffins chosen as the front cover of the book,” Moncrieff said.
“I must have a good eye for seals as this is the fourth time I have had highly commended for them. It is great to see Shetland featuring in several categories, with Melvin Redeker’s gannet photo winning the portrait category.”
