News / Steven appointed as amenity trust’s interim manager
PROMOTE Shetland manager Andy Steven has been appointed as acting general manager of Shetland Amenity Trust (SAT) following the death last week of Jimmy Moncrieff.
A full review of the trust’s senior management is to take place, and in the meantime Steven, described as head of strategy and innovation, will take on the role. Back in December he had the deputy manager’s duties added to his job description following the retirement of Alan Blain.
The funeral of Moncrieff, who served as general manager for 23 years, took place on Saturday.
Amenity trust chairman Brian Gregson said: “We are pleased to announce this appointment, which will ensure that the aims of the trust will continue to be delivered.
“A full review of the trust’s senior management will now take place, but until this is completed, we are confident that the trust is in good hands.”
SAT is responsible for managing some of Shetland’s premier visitor attractions including Shetland Museum and Archives and the Sumburgh Head visitor centre, as well as the county’s archaeology service, biological records centre and ranger team.
The organisation is largely funded by a mixture of Shetland Charitable Trust and money from a mixture of local and external public bodies.
