COMMUNICATIONS firm BT have apologised after 250 people in Shetland’s north mainland suffered a phone outage, including the emergency 999 service, in the early hours of Friday.
Around 100 households in North Roe and 150 in Ollaberry were unable to use their phones, while 60 customers in North Roe also lost their broadband service, BT said.
The company is now investigating the cause of the problem which began at midnight and ended at 8.45am when engineers re-routed traffic.
A spokesman said: “Investigations into the fault are continuing and we’d like to apologise for this break in service.”
