News / No casualties as landing gear fails on plane
FAIR ISLE airport was briefly closed this morning (Wednesday) after the landing gear failed on a private aircraft that was visiting the isle.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said that six people had been on board what they could only describe as a “light aircraft” and that no-one had been hurt in the incident, which happened around 11.30am.
Fire staff and coastguards were involved in clearing the plane from the runway.
Shetland Islands Council said the runway was operational shortly after 1pm.
